Verb to be: 2 part (was/were) Empty
MensajeTema: Verb to be: 2 part (was/were)   Verb to be: 2 part (was/were) EmptyMar Mar 20, 2007 5:35 am

Citación :
Use was/were to talk about the past.

Contractions:

wasn't = was not
weren't = were not

We can use adjectives, nouns or expresions of place after be (past)

+: She was late.
-: She wasn't late.
?: Was she late?

We use a special structure with be - There was/There were - to introduce things: to say that they exist.

There is = There's
There are = There're

There's a strange man at the yard.
There are some letters for you.
